Aum Amriteshwaryai Namah
Dear Amma,

My name is Jaya. My house is at Thrissur District, Kanarachikasavu. My family consists of my grandmother (70), mother (56), husband (40) and 3 daughters. My husband is a coolie and we are living with that income. We don’t have any house or property of our own. My mother is staying out of my house. As my marriage is an inter caste marriage we don’t get the help from my husband’s family. From the birth of my 3rd daughter onwards she is under some treatment. We had done the treatment in some other hospitals and she had got severe cough and scanning has been done and we came to know that she had a hole in her heart. The surgery had cost a lot of Rupees.

By taking some loans we had conducted some treatment but we are not in a position to pay back the loan amount. When we came to the Amrita Hospital, the doctors had told for a surgery, then we approached the patient service department. Then I went to see Amma for blessings alone with my daughter. Then she had been admitted to this hospital on 30th November 2006. Then she become normal and talked something, but after two days because of some problem relating to her brain she didn’t move. Then I prayed to Amma and I had full faith in Amma that she will help us. Then after some days she became normal and had continued to move.

The surgery had cost 1,51,200 and The hospital had conducted the surgery free of cost. I deliver my humble pranams to the Lotus feet of Amma for saving my child’s life. We also pray to God to gave a long life for Amma so that she can help a lot of people. We are ready to provide the patient’s photograph in order to attach it in the magazine.

Regards, Jaya Babu (mother) Thrissur.

My name is Anandan. My family consists of my wife and our two children. My wife is a cancer patient. We are a poor family, we do not have enough money for meeting the treatment expenses. My children and I are not working and there are no earnings in our house. At this time we heard that the Amrita hospital would provide the necessary treatment for cancer patients.

Then we received treatment help from Amma three times. Firstly Rs.58,000/- was provided by the hospital. The second time was for radiation therapy, for which half the amount, Rs.35,000/- was given to us as financial aid. Then Rs.30,200/- was provided for conducting a surgery on her eyes. I am very much obliged to the doctors and staff of the hospital for taking care of my wife and also for granting the treatment help. Above all, I am expressing my sincere gratitude towards Amma for granting this amount. Our Dearest AMMA,

My name is Satheesh and I am from Perumbavoor. I am working as a driver and my family consists of my parents, wife and our daughter. From birth onwards, our daughter has had a heart problem. When an Echo scan was done, I was told that a major surgery would be required. So we came to Amrita Hospital. The doctors conducted many tests and found that there is a hole and block in her heart. They also told that if she does not undergo surgery, the disease would affect her body physically and mentally. A few days later, her hands and legs became blue in color. Doctors told us that the surgery would require Rs.80,000/-.
I do not have that much money to do the operation. My parents are also ill and they are also undergoing treatment. I am finding it very difficult to meet the expenses. I earn a small income from my job, which is not enough for daily living. Then we approached the patient service department and with their help, tests and operations were conducted. The operation had cost Rs.1,15,901/- and the hospital bared the whole amount. The doctors and staff helped us and provided us with all necessary support during our stay in the hospital. I would like to thank Amma for providing Her blessings and also for granting treatment help.

Regards, Satheesh (father).

Dearest Amma,

I am Biju.P.V from Elankannapuzha in Ernakulam district. Following 28 days of my child’s birth, my child was underweight and the doctors referred her to Amma’s hospital. The doctors checked her and diagnosed that there was a hole in her blood stream and they told that sometimes it would close on its own or else a surgery would be required later in life. We used to bring her every month for checkups and she was always fine. She underwent checkup thrice and she had no problems till then. All on a sudden from June 5, 2006, the child started crying a lot and was not feeding well. So we came over to Amma’s hospital and the doctors suggested surgery.

When I was told the surgery charges I contacted Patient Services and told them about my poor financial situation. I work as an accountant of a fisherman. My family consists of my father, mother, myself, my wife, and my daughter. I get very low wages. Amma has helped us before when we were victims of the tsunami. Amma helped me by granting Rs 43000/- and making the surgery free of cost. I offer my gratitude and prayers to Amma. All the doctors, nurses and other staff in Amma’s hospital are very loving.

I offer my gratitude to everyone in this hospital.

To my loving Amma,

I live in Peruman in Kollam district. My name is Suvarnakumari. My husband’s name is Gopalakrishnan and my 2 sons are Umesh Krishnan and Sumesh Krishnan. My younger son Sumesh Krishnan was a heart patient from the time of birth. We took him to a lot of hospitals for treatment. My husband works on daily wages. Due to a lot of debt, a doctor from a local hospital asked us to go to Amma’s hospital for help.

Due to high debt, my husband could not support us and so left us all alone, and went away. I have a very small job in a cashew factory. The whole family lives on my very low wages. With Amma’s help, we got a huge amount of Rs. 1,39,779/- for my son’s surgery and the doctors told me that the surgery was successful. All the doctors, nurses and other staff in this hospital are very loving and caring and show no discrimination between the rich and the poor. We offer our gratitude to Amma for all the help. We will never forget this great help in life.

Aum Amriteshwariyai Namah

I am Usman from Vallikkunnam village in Mavellikkara in Alleppey district.

It was 5 ½ years back that I suffered from my first episode of chest pain. I was admitted in a hospital in Trivandrum and an angiogram test was performed and I was diagnosed with 4 blocks and was asked to undergo immediate surgery. I came to Amrita Hospital with and consulted the heart specialist. The doctor suggested that I would be recovered only through a bypass surgery.

My family consists of myself, my wife and a 6 ½ year old daughter. I sold my auto rickshaw to meet the expense of my first angiogram. After that I could not do any work. The only means of income in the family was from my auto rickshaw. Due to very poor financial situation, I was in a state where I could not afford the surgery. That is when I contacted the patient services department and told my grievances to them. I pleaded for Amma’s help to save both my family and me. Due to Amma’s mercy, I underwent free bypass surgery worth Rs. 97,500 and my life was saved.

This poor family offers our million Pranams at the holy feet of Amma for giving a huge amount of Rs. 97,500 and saving my family and me. We also offer our Pranams to Amma who gave me a new life and who has been an ocean of love and heavenly light by wiping the tears of the poor and for showering flowers of compassion and comfort and for helping my family and me from the sea of sorrow. Myself and my family offer our gratitude to everyone in patient services for showering us with touch of love and with words of compassion and also thank everyone for not putting us through any trouble and for helping us. Once again my family and myself offer our gratitude to Amma who has been ever shining like a silver star.

Respected Amma,

My son, Akhil had difficulties in breathing and hearing by birth. He was born before date. He was admitted a Hospital at Ernakulam for 13 days. Even after treatment for 8 years, there was no change in the state of his illness. And so, we were directed to AIMS, Kochi. We live in a house on 15 cents plot at Chalakka, Kuthukara Panchayath. Since his father was a coolie and myself was housewife, we could not afford the charges. We contacted Patient Services department for financial assist. Without paying even a single rupee, he could undergo the operation. AMRITA care 2005

AMRITA is committed to providing compassionate medical care to all, regardless of race, caste, religion, or economic condition. We offer charitable care to the fullest extent possible for those in need. As medical insurance is largely unavailable in India, the hospital dedicates a portion of its resources to serving patients who are too poor to pay for their treatment.

While the majority of AMRITA' patients pay for all of their services, in 2005 free in-patient treatment or major financial concessions were extended to 18,045 patients, covering the whole spectrum of activities.
