Namah Shivay

Om Amriteswaryai Namah

My name is Thomas Varkey and I hail from a place called Irattayar in Idukki district. My family consists of myself, my father, mother, two sisters, my wife and our two children. Both my sisters are not married. My parents are old aged. I was allotted a house from the church and I was also provided with brick and metal sheet. I bought the rest of the materials after taking loan from the bank. Before completing the work, I had to take my child to the hospital. My wife is a Hindu. Ours was a registered marriage and so we have no support from her house.

Two weeks following my child’s birth she suffered from fever and was taken to a local hospital. The doctors there said that she had heart problem and needed immediate surgery. There we had to spend a huge amount of Rs. 3550. From there we were referred to a hospital in Kottayam. There also we had to spend Rs. 3800. From there we were referred to a hospital in Trivandrum. There a balloon surgery worth Rs. 17000 was performed. Since we couldn’t afford such a huge amount of money the surgery was performed free of charge. She was discharged five days after that and was referred to Amrita Hospital for advanced surgery. So we came here and consulted the doctor and x-ray and echo tests were performed. The doctors said that she had to undergo immediate surgery worth Rs. 1,55,050. Being a coolie worker, I could not afford such a huge amount of money and I told this to the doctor. He asked me to contact patient services. So I went to patient services department and told them about my financial difficulties. Following that a swamiji came to my house for enquiry and informed patient services about my poor living condition. After that my child’s surgery was successfully performed. Now my child is doing fine. We feel that we received God’s blessings through Amma. I pray that Amma receives more and more of God’s blessings in the future. It is with the help of our neighbours and folks that we were able to afford treatment. We believe that it is all Amma’s blessings. I thank all the doctors, nurses and other staff in this hospital and also Amma who provided treatment help of Rs. 155050. I give consent to publish my child’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Pranams to Amma.

Regards,

Thomas Varkey

Om Amriteswaryai Namah

We offer our gratitude to Amma.

My husband was brought to this hospital following a heart problem. We are five members in our family. For the past four years I have been unable to go for any work following severe back problem. Both my children are dumb by birth. My eldest son is going to undergo training to work as a waiter. We hail from Cherthala. All we have is five cents of land along with a small house. The entire family used to depend on my husband’s wages for their livelihood. He used to sell fish at houses and used to take care of our expenses with the small amount of money that he got. Suddenly one night he experienced severe chest pain. Though we took him to a nearby hospital, he was shifted to another hospital in Cochin. He was in the ICU for two days and then was in the ward for one and a half weeks. The doctors told that he had to undergo some scan, but we could not afford it. So we got in touch with Amrita Kutumbam and came to know about patient services through them. My husband underwent a scan worth Rs. 10667, but all we had to pay was Rs. 1000. We offer a million thanks to Amma who provides such a huge help to our family. We hope and pray that Amma’s blessings will be with us throughout our lives. We will forever be indebted to all the staff in this hospital. I cannot stop my tears while writing this. I give consent to publish my husband’s photograph along with letter in Amma’s publication.

Girija

Om Namah Shivaya

Dearest Amma,

I am Kanaka’s husband Mohanan and we hail from a place called Puthuppanam, Vadakara taluk in Kozhikode district. I am a member of a poverty stricken family. My family consists of myself, my wife Kanaka and our two children. Our eldest daughter Priyanka is 21 years old and is studying for M Com and our son Priyesh is 18 years old and is studying in 11th standard. All we have is 7 cents of land and a small house. I am a coolie worker, but due to continued illness I am unable to go for work regularly. Four years back Kanaka suffered from severe cough and other problems. I took her to a doctor in Vadakara and he said that there was some problem with her heart. I was extremely sad to hear that. The doctor said that she had to perform an echo test to find out the problem. He referred Kanaka to a hospital in Kozhikode and an echo was performed and she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart and told us that she would need to undergo a surgery worth Rs. 1 lakh. An amount of Rs 1000 was spent there for the test. We were heartbroken and came back home in tears. After that we went to a hospital in Bangalore. There she underwent some test and was diagnosed with hole in her heart. They said that it needed to be closed. Since she was above 40 years of age, they put her on pending and told her to get treatment from any other hospital. After returning from there we went to a hospital in Kozhikode and the doctor there told that I had to undergo surgery worth Rs. 1 lakh. We were in deep grief. So the doctor asked us to send a letter to the prime minister’s relief fund asking for help. We didn’t get any reply and were in deep grief. That is when the doctor there told us about Amma’s hospital. So we came here and contacted patient services and they gave us all the instructions. We were asked to go to Amma’s ashram in Kozhikiode asking for treatment help. So we went there and met the Swamiji and told all our problems. We were able to get all the information regarding the ashram. After enquiry we were asked to come to this hospital. After coming here, we were given all the help from patient services. We can never thank Amma enough for providing us treatment help of Rs. 1,25,222. Myself and my family will always be indebted to Amma and the ashram for all the help. I cannot praise enough how excellent the behavior of all the staff and everyone at patient services is. The patient and the people coming along can never forget the treatment given in this hospital and also the wonderful environment. A million thanks to Amma for helping me in this surgery. We hope that we will be blessed to come and meet Amma. I give full consent to publish my wife’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Regards,
Mohanan

Initially when I was admitted in this hospital I had to stay here for seven days. At that time various scans and tests were performed and a huge amount of Rs. 40,000 was spent at that time. Later on they performed some tests on him and said that he had to get admitted for the surgery.

My family consists of myself, my younger sister, brother, father, mother and grandmother. Both my parents are coolie workers. Five months back my father underwent an eye surgery following a stone hitting his eyeball. A huge amount of Rs. 12,000 was spent for that surgery. Pranams to Amma,

My name is Surendran. I am writing this letter on behalf of my sister’s 13 year old daughter Prajina. We hail from a place called Alencheri in Kannoor district. There are six members in their family. They are her father, mother and their four children. Since they come from a very poor financial background, they could not afford Prajina’s surgery during her childhood. Prajina is their third daughter and is studying in 8th standard. She is a heart patient and is unable to run or jump or even walk long distances. One of the local doctors asked us to come here. After coming here, we spoke to patient services staff and got help. Since she had grown up, the doctors said that it wasn’t possible to perform any surgery. We are greatly thankful to all the doctors who explained to us in detail about her problem. Medical science could not do anything to save her and the only way for her to survive would be God’s grace. We hope that Amma’s prayers and blessings be with her always. All the staff in the hospital were very loving towards us. We received Rs. 10440 from Amma’s charity. Our whole family is thankful to Amma and everyone for all the help. The doctors have asked her to be on medication for the next three months and to consult them after that. We hope that Amma’s prayers with Prajina always. I give full consent to publish Prajina’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Thankfully,
