My Dearest AMMA,

I am from Nilagiri, Pattavayambu. I am doing agricultural work and my family consists of my wife and two sons. My wife is not working. My elder son is doing his 1st year graduation in commerce and my younger son is studying in plus two. One year ago, I was told that I have a small tumor in my eyes and when I showed it to doctors in the nearby hospital, they said that there is some problem with the optical nerves of my eyes. I came to know about this problem by February 2006. The doctors told surgery was needed and it that it would cost 1,50,000/-. I have no way of making this much money, as we are not having enough money for our livelihood.

We heard that Amrita hospital could help us in this matter. From 2nd December 2006 onwards, my disease worsened and I began to lose my eye-sight. We went to the Ashram in Mananthavady and met Swamiji and told all our difficulties. Swamiji gave us a letter to show at the hospital. On 22nd January 2007, I was admitted here and the operation was done successfully. Even after the operation I did not get my eyesight back, but the doctors told me that the tumor has been removed and it will take some time to regain my eyesight. We got a reduction of Rs.34,516/- and we would like to thank Amma and all the members of the Amrita family. I hope Amma will provide sight for my eyes and health for my body so that I could see Amma.

Regards,
T.K. Ashokan.

My Dearest AMMA,

I am a fisherman hailing from Arratupuzha Panchayat, Kannikadu. We have four children. Two years ago, I had some chest pain. When I went to the nearby hospital, they gave me some treatment for two weeks. After I was discharged, I again had some chest pain and went to the doctor again. He prescribed some medicines and I have been taking these medicines for a long time. But I was not cured of the pain, so I went to see Amma and told Her all my difficulties. Seeing my difficult and pathetic situation, Amma sent me to Amrita Hospital. The doctors in the hospital said I needed an operation. When I told these things to Amma, people from Ashram came to my house and understood that we are financially very poor. They provided us Rs.61, 600/- as financial aid.

For two years I have been taking medicines but the pain will come now and then but with the treatment from the Amrita hospital my disease got cured. They took care of me very well. After the treatment from AIMS I did not feel any pain or difficulty in my chest. My family and I would like to express our humble pranams to our Jagath Guru Mata Amritanandamayi Devi Amma for helping and caring for us.

our lovable AMMA,

My name is Jayasree. I am from Kottayam district, Vayur panchayat, Chavumpathal. I am working as a servant in a house. For the past 9 years, my husband is having a breathing problem and cough and hence he is not able to work. I have 2 daughters- my elder daughter is married and younger one is studying. My second daughter is having a heart problem for which the doctors told an operation is required. For doing the operation, a huge amount was required and we are financially very poor. At this time we were informed about Amrita hospital by a doctor near our house. When we came here the operation which costs Rs.1,49,600/- was done free of cost with the help and support of the patient service department. With the blessings and kindness of Amma, my daughter is doing well. The hospital has agreed to carry out the expenses of medicines and other treatment.

Amma provided Her hands as a sort of support. I believe that Amma will bless my family and give us help and support in order to overcome all bad conditions. At the same time I am expressing my gratitude to all the staff of the hospital that took care of my child. The hospital people provided food and clothes for my child and all these things were because of Amma’s grace. I am very obliged to Amma for Her help. In this poor and pathetic situation Amma gave us support, and we do not know what to give in return. Amma knows every thought, activities and needs of the people and She will gave the same for all of us.

My dearest AMMA,

My name is Leela and my family consists of my father, mother, husband and my son. My husband is a coolie worker and we are having our livelihood from the small amount, which he gets. Suddenly one day he had a chest pain and he could not breath well. We took him to the hospital and the doctors said that his heart has a problem and an immediate surgery is needed. For the surgery Rs.1,00,000/- has to be spend. When we told the doctor that we do not have that much money for the surgery and treatment, the doctors told us about Amrita hospital. We also came to know that the hospital would conduct the surgery at a very low cost.

We met the patient service department staff and gave them the application for the treatment help. The staff came to our house and saw our situation. As a result of which we got a reduction of Rs.65, 300/-. My husband’s mother is also a heart patient, but her operation cannot be conducted under this condition. We had to buy medicines for my father and mother. My son is studying. In this situation it is very difficult to arrange the money for the surgery, so we approached the patient service department. With the help of our lovable Amma, my husband’s surgery was conducted successfully. The doctors and staffs of the hospital also provided us good treatment and support.

My Dearest AMMA,

I am from Kottayam District, Kaduthuruthi Panchayat, Vallaramparambil house and my daughter’s name is Aswathy. She is 3 years old and she was found to have a hole in her heart. The doctors of AIMS advised a surgery immediately. The surgery and the medicines would cost Rs.80, 000/-. I am a Autorickshaw driver and as a part of self-employment scheme I had taken the autorickshaw. I had to pay some amount for the vehicle. For my sister’s marriage I had taken a loan for Rs.1,00,000/-. I am staying with my father, mother, wife, child, my brother and his family. Five years ago, my father suffered from a heart attack and I had spent a huge amount for the treatment. By driving autorickshaw I am able to meet the expenses of the household and my child’s treatment. My brother is a coolie worker and the family is living off his wages.

So in this situation when the doctors suggested a surgery, with the small amount that I am getting it is not possible to do the surgery. At this moment we approached the patient service department of AIMS and told all our difficulties. We paid Rs.30, 000/- and Amma gave the balance amount of Rs.64, 400/- to us. We pray to Amma to shower Her blessings to all the doctors and staffs who cured my child’s disease through the surgery. We are conveying our heartfelt thanks and thousands of love to our dear Amma.

I am Padmanabhan and I am coming from Vadakara. My family consists of my wife Padmini, my son Padmakumar, and my 2 daughters Padmapriya and Varadha. From our first Darshan with Amma in 1989, we have been working for the Ashram in Vadakara. I am a retired government employee. I was working as a Deputy Director in the Local Fed Audit Department. On April 21, 2004 I had a heart attack and I was admitted in the nearby hospital. For 5 days I was in the ICU, then I was brought to AIMS for further treatment. An Angiogram was taken and other tests were also done, the total costs coming up to Rs.25,000/-. The doctors told us that operation is the only option. We are living on the Pension amount that I receive monthly and we do not have any other ways of earning our livelihood.Because of the financial difficulties, I decided to postpone the operation for 2 months. As I could not afford the operation charges, we went for Ayurvedic treatment. There were 5 blocks in my heart and doctors advised surgery again. On December 8th 2005 we went to see Amma in Vallikavu and along with thousands of other devotees we got an opportunity to see Amma. We told Her of all our difficulties and She told us to do the surgery in AIMS hospital. After the lunch we sat down in the hall and one hour later I experienced a severe chest pain. I was taken to the casualty department at AIMS. Angiogram was taken and the blocks were still present. Doctors advised that the operation should be conducted as early as possible, otherwise it would be dangerous. We had already spent Rs.30,000/-. Due to our poor financial situation we approached the patient service department for treatment help. Swami Vivekamrita Chaitanya gave us a letter and we gave the Verification Report to the Patient service department. On 15th January 2007 the operation was done. With the grace of Amma, the operation was successful, and I was discharged on 24th January 2007. It is only because of the guidance of Amma that the operation was successful. We received a concession of Rs.98,000/- and I do not have enough words to express my deep felt thanks to Amma for saving my life. My family and I would like to convey our sincere thanks and humble pranams at the Lotus feet of Amma.

Regards,

Aum Namah Shivaya

To Amma,

My name is Usha Raju and I live with my 2 daughters and husband's mother. We are staying in Kottayam district, Akkalakunnu Panchayat, Mattakara. My daughter, Reshmi, has a heart problem which we came to know about when she was one and a half years old. Through tests we found that she has a hole in her heart and a surgery is required. The doctors also said that the surgery must be done before she becomes 10 years. They gave her all the needed medicines and tests were also done. Four years ago, my husband fell down from a tree and for 6 months he was lying on the bed without any movement. Then through medicines and treatment he can move now. We are living in 5 cents of land and when we heard about my daughter’s condition we felt very sad. Then we heard about the different services provided by Amma. So when a camp was conducted in our school, through them we got more information about the hospital.

We came to the Amrita hospital and approached the patient service department. The kind and courteous staffs of this hospital provided us all the facilities and help which we would not get in other hospitals. The doctors of the other hospitals told that the operation would cost Rs.1,75,000/-, but here it costs only Rs.1,00,000/-. We went to the Ashram in Chenganassery and gave the application for treatment help. The staffs of the patient service department came to our house and understood our difficulty. They granted us Rs.1,07,000/- and we only had to pay the expenses for the medicine. Amma is considered to be the mother of all mankind and we pray for Amma and for Her blessings always. We are very much greatful to each and every one of the hospital staff for the help and service they gave us. Amma is serving mankind without any discrimination and prejudice. AIMS is also serving the whole mankind by providing medicines, love and services without any prejudice.

Usha Raju (mother)
