Respected Amritanandamayi Amma,
My husband experienced chest pain and was taken to a nearby doctor. The doctor asked us to perform all tests related to the heart. Then we decided to come over to Amrita Hospital. My brother also had the same problem and was treated here. So we came here and met the cardiologist. He asked us to perform some tests. After that he told us that my husband needed an angiogram and so it was done. He was diagnosed with block in the heart valve. The doctor said that he had to do angioplasty and it would cost Rs. 1 lakh. Since we could not afford such a huge amount we contacted patient services. Someone from the ashram came to our house for enquiry. My husband is a painter by profession. I have two children, a son and a daughter. My daughter is married and she has two children. My son is still studying. I do not have any other job. I told about my condition to those who came for enquiry. They understood our problems and we were given treatment help of Rs. 76,449. We paid Rs. 40,000 and got admitted and the angioplasty was successfully performed. All the doctors and other staff in this hospital were very loving and explained everything in detail to us. So I thank everyone in this hospital for all the help. No matter how much I thank Amma, it will never be enough. We were given treatment help of Rs. 76,449. We thank Amma for this great help. We will all go and meet Amma personally and get Her darshan. A million thanks to Amma. I give consent to publish my husband’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication. It is because of Amma’s charity activities that many people are getting a lot of help. Without such great help from Amma people like us would have suffered a lot. I hope to get Amma’s help even in the future.
Om Namah Shivaya
Words of gratitude from the patients who did treatment at Amrita Hospital (AIMS), Kochi at free of cost or at subsidized rate.

Pranams to Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Amma,
My name is Smija and I am writing this letter on behalf of my mother Meenakshy. Couple of months back she had a heart attack. We took her to a nearby hospital and was treated there. After couple of days she experienced breathing problems and underwent treatment from a cardiologist. Since there was no relief of her symptoms after medication, the doctor asked her to get an angiogram done. Our financial condition is really bad. We live on daily wages. My parents are staying together. Since my mother is ill, I am staying with them now. All we have is cents of land and a small house. We put that on debt to pay off the bills for the treatment. With Amma’s grace, we were given treatment help for all the tests. The doctors told us that we would need a huge amount of Rs. 1 lakh for her treatment. First we paid Rs, 40,000. After that we were told to pay a huge amount of Rs. 45,331. So I contacted patient services and got help from them. We will always be indebted to Amma for that help. My family consists of myself, my father, mother, husband and our 2 year old son. My husband is working as a room boy in a hotel in Guruvayoor. I work as a salesgirl in a supermarket. An amount of Rs. 2500 is needed for my mother’s medications monthly. That is why I go for this job. I earn Rs. 1000 and my husband earns Rs.1800 rupees. We are also in debt as a lot of money was needed during our marriage. All the doctors, nurses and other staff in this hospital were very loving towards us. We got a lot of help from here. Amma provided us Rs. 62,900 as treatment help. We will always be indebted to Amma for this great help. All the staff at patient services were very loving towards us. I give consent to publish my mother’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Dear Amma,
My name is Saji.P.T. and I hail from a place called Puthuppally in Kottayam district. I am a driver by profession. My brothers are coolie workers. All I have for myself is a small house in 3 cents of land. I underwent financial crisis a while back for my father’s treatment. One of my brothers is diabetic. I still haven’t paid for the loan that I took for my father’s kidney problem. In the midst of all these problems, my mother suffered from a bump in her head, which was diagnosed as tumor and the doctor referred her to AIMS. We reached here and gave an application at patient services. Someone from there came to our house for enquiry and promised to help us. With Amma’s blessings and with the love and affection of all the staff in this hospital, my mother was fully recovered from her illness. Myself and my family offer a million thanks to Mata Amritanandamayi Devi for providing a huge amount of Rs. 24630 as treatment help. I give full consent to publish my mother’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

My name is Thomas Varkey and I hail from a place called Irattayar in Idukki district. My family consists of myself, my father, mother, two sisters, my wife and our two children. Both my sisters are not married. My parents are old aged. I was allotted a house from the church and I was also provided with brick and metal sheet. I bought the rest of the materials after taking loan from the bank. Before completing the work, I had to take my child to the hospital. My wife is a Hindu. Ours was a registered marriage and so we have no support from her house.
Two weeks following my child’s birth she suffered from fever and was taken to a local hospital. The doctors there said that she had heart problem and needed immediate surgery. There we had to spend a huge amount of Rs. 3550. From there we were referred to a hospital in Kottayam. There also we had to spend Rs. 3800. From there we were referred to a hospital in Trivandrum. There a balloon surgery worth Rs. 17000 was performed. Since we couldn’t afford such a huge amount of money the surgery was performed free of charge. She was discharged five days after that and was referred to Amrita Hospital for advanced surgery. So we came here and consulted the doctor and x-ray and echo tests were performed. The doctors said that she had to undergo immediate surgery worth Rs. 1,55,050. Being a coolie worker, I could not afford such a huge amount of money and I told this to the doctor. He asked me to contact patient services. So I went to patient services department and told them about my financial difficulties. Following that a swamiji came to my house for enquiry and informed patient services about my poor living condition. After that my child’s surgery was successfully performed. Now my child is doing fine. We feel that we received God’s blessings through Amma. I pray that Amma receives more and more of God’s blessings in the future. It is with the help of our neighbours and folks that we were able to afford treatment. We believe that it is all Amma’s blessings. I thank all the doctors, nurses and other staff in this hospital and also Amma who provided treatment help of Rs. 155050. I give consent to publish my child’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Om Amriteswaryai Namah
We offer our gratitude to Amma.
My husband was brought to this hospital following a heart problem. We are five members in our family. For the past four years I have been unable to go for any work following severe back problem. Both my children are dumb by birth. My eldest son is going to undergo training to work as a waiter. We hail from Cherthala. All we have is five cents of land along with a small house. The entire family used to depend on my husband’s wages for their livelihood. He used to sell fish at houses and used to take care of our expenses with the small amount of money that he got. Suddenly one night he experienced severe chest pain. Though we took him to a nearby hospital, he was shifted to another hospital in Cochin. He was in the ICU for two days and then was in the ward for one and a half weeks. The doctors told that he had to undergo some scan, but we could not afford it. So we got in touch with Amrita Kutumbam and came to know about patient services through them. My husband underwent a scan worth Rs. 10667, but all we had to pay was Rs. 1000. We offer a million thanks to Amma who provides such a huge help to our family. We hope and pray that Amma’s blessings will be with us throughout our lives. We will forever be indebted to all the staff in this hospital. I cannot stop my tears while writing this. I give consent to publish my husband’s photograph along with letter in Amma’s publication.

Dearest Amma,
I am Kanaka’s husband Mohanan and we hail from a place called Puthuppanam, Vadakara taluk in Kozhikode district. I am a member of a poverty stricken family. My family consists of myself, my wife Kanaka and our two children. Our eldest daughter Priyanka is 21 years old and is studying for M Com and our son Priyesh is 18 years old and is studying in 11th standard. All we have is 7 cents of land and a small house. I am a coolie worker, but due to continued illness I am unable to go for work regularly. Four years back Kanaka suffered from severe cough and other problems. I took her to a doctor in Vadakara and he said that there was some problem with her heart. I was extremely sad to hear that. The doctor said that she had to perform an echo test to find out the problem. He referred Kanaka to a hospital in Kozhikode and an echo was performed and she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart and told us that she would need to undergo a surgery worth Rs. 1 lakh. An amount of Rs 1000 was spent there for the test. We were heartbroken and came back home in tears. After that we went to a hospital in Bangalore. There she underwent some test and was diagnosed with hole in her heart. They said that it needed to be closed. Since she was above 40 years of age, they put her on pending and told her to get treatment from any other hospital. After returning from there we went to a hospital in Kozhikode and the doctor there told that I had to undergo surgery worth Rs. 1 lakh. We were in deep grief. So the doctor asked us to send a letter to the prime minister’s relief fund asking for help. We didn’t get any reply and were in deep grief. That is when the doctor there told us about Amma’s hospital. So we came here and contacted patient services and they gave us all the instructions. We were asked to go to Amma’s ashram in Kozhikiode asking for treatment help. So we went there and met the Swamiji and told all our problems. We were able to get all the information regarding the ashram. After enquiry we were asked to come to this hospital. After coming here, we were given all the help from patient services. We can never thank Amma enough for providing us treatment help of Rs. 1,25,222. Myself and my family will always be indebted to Amma and the ashram for all the help. I cannot praise enough how excellent the behavior of all the staff and everyone at patient services is. The patient and the people coming along can never forget the treatment given in this hospital and also the wonderful environment. A million thanks to Amma for helping me in this surgery. We hope that we will be blessed to come and meet Amma. I give full consent to publish my wife’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Pranams to Amma.
I am Muhammad and I am writing this letter on behalf of my wife Safiya. I am from a very poor financial background. All I have is 15 cents of land and a very small house. I work as a conductor in a private bus. I have two children. One of them is in the Gulf for the past two months now. He had borrowed Rs. 1,50,000 from someone before going. So I cannot ask him for any money. So as soon as I heard about my wife’s illness I contacted patient services. They gave me a letter which I gave to the swamiji in the ashram. Someone from the ashram came to my house for enquiry and gave us a letter. I was given treatment help of Rs. 39855 and I am extremely thankful for the great help.
After falling ill my wife has been admitted in a hospital in Kozhikode several times. The doctors there said that she needed a surgery. Many people who have done surgeries here told us that this is the best hospital and that everyone is very dedicated. So we decided to come here. All the doctors, nurses and other staff in this hospital were very loving towards us. I thank each and everyone of them. I thank everyone for providing me with treatment help of Rs. 39855. My wife’s had problem with both heart valves. Now it is replaced and she is feeling much better. I give consent to publish my wife’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

My name is Dhanya and I am C.K.Kesavan’s daughter. One fine day my dad experienced headache along with vomiting. We took him to a local hospital and some tests were performed on him. He was admitted there for four days. A huge amount of Rs. 10,000 was spent there. My father did not have relief of his symptoms. So we brought him over to this hospital. He underwent a scan and was diagnosed with aneurysm. The doctors said that he had to undergo a surgery worth Rs. 85,000 for that. Initially when I was admitted in this hospital I had to stay here for seven days. At that time various scans and tests were performed and a huge amount of Rs. 40,000 was spent at that time. Later on they performed some tests on him and said that he had to get admitted for the surgery.
My family consists of myself, my younger sister, brother, father, mother and grandmother. Both my parents are coolie workers. Five months back my father underwent an eye surgery following a stone hitting his eyeball. A huge amount of Rs. 12,000 was spent for that surgery. Following that my younger sister also underwent a surgery and a lot of money was spent for that too. We borrowed money from other to meet all the expenses. That is when my father fell sick. We did not have any money in our hand for treatment. I have been married for the past two years now. I had to sell all my gold ornaments for my father’s initial treatment. We did not have enough money to pay for his surgery. So we contacted patient services and someone from there came to our house for enquiry. They were convinced of our poor financial condition and offered to help us. We got a report from patient services stating that we would be provided with treatment help from Amma’s fund. All the doctors and other staff in this hospital were very loving and caring.
We hail from a place called Pallissery, Karukutti panchayat in Ernakulam district. All we have is ten cents of land. It is only with Amma’s help that my father could undergo the surgery. My family offer pranams to Amma. I give consent to publish this letter along with my father’s photograph in Amma’s publication

Pranams to Amma,
My name is Surendran. I am writing this letter on behalf of my sister’s 13 year old daughter Prajina. We hail from a place called Alencheri in Kannoor district. There are six members in their family. They are her father, mother and their four children. Since they come from a very poor financial background, they could not afford Prajina’s surgery during her childhood. Prajina is their third daughter and is studying in 8th standard. She is a heart patient and is unable to run or jump or even walk long distances. One of the local doctors asked us to come here. After coming here, we spoke to patient services staff and got help. Since she had grown up, the doctors said that it wasn’t possible to perform any surgery. We are greatly thankful to all the doctors who explained to us in detail about her problem. Medical science could not do anything to save her and the only way for her to survive would be God’s grace. We hope that Amma’s prayers and blessings be with her always. All the staff in the hospital were very loving towards us. We received Rs. 10440 from Amma’s charity. Our whole family is thankful to Amma and everyone for all the help. The doctors have asked her to be on medication for the next three months and to consult them after that. We hope that Amma’s prayers with Prajina always. I give full consent to publish Prajina’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

To my dearest Amma,
My name is Bernad George and I hail from Maliyeckal Veedu, Alangad village in North Paravoor taluk. My family consists of myself, my wife and sister. I used to do coolie work and that was the only source of income in the family. One year back I suffered from fever. I was taken to a local hospital and the doctors performed various tests and I was diagnosed with cancer. After that I went to a hospital in Cochin and CT scan and other tests were performed there. Since then I have been surviving on just medication. In the midst of all this, my sister became mentally ill and we were in deep financial crisis. So I had to sell my house and with that money we bought this small house and the rest of the money was used to clear my debts. For the past five months, my condition has been very bad and I was unable to do anything. Some of my friends took care of the family’s expenses and also bought the necessary medicines for me. Even then I had borrowed a huge amount of Rs. 35,000 from my friends. At that time I met a friend of mine who was Amma’s devotee and told me about Amma’s hospital and the charitable activities. Thus I came here and consulted the doctor. I underwent counseling and I gained immense self confidence. So I was interested in getting treatment from here and I gave an application to receive fifteen radiations. I was given a report and following that, someone came to my house for enquiry and agreed to provide me with treatment help. I was given Rs. 10,790 as treatment help. I received excellent service and cooperation from all the doctors, nurses and other staff in this hospital. In God’s name I thank Amma and this institution for all the help. I pray to God that all the people who are financially poor receive help and compassion from this institution. I give full consent to publish my photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Dear Amma,
I am Viji, wife of Shanmughan. We hail from Trichur district. Around three months back, one night my husband experienced weakness and started sweating all on sudden. Immediately he was taken to a nearby hospital and an ECG was performed and they asked us to transfer him to another hospital in the city. The doctors diagnosed that he had a heart attack. Immediately they gave him an injection and he was admitted there for two weeks. At that time a huge amount of Rs. 20,000 was spent for his treatment. My family consists of myself, my husband and our two children. My parents also live with us. The entire family depends on his mere wages for livelihood. Even his relatives are in a very bad financial situation. At this point we reached Amma’s hospital to correctly diagnose his situation and the doctor suggested angiogram. The angiogram showed three blocks and the doctors said that one of them needed angioplasty. We had already spent a large amount of money for his treatment in the past and could not afford any at this point. So we were asked to contact patient services. My husband has 20 cents of land. We got a letter from patient services which we took to the ashram in Trichur and immediately they understood our problems and told us that they would help us by paying some amount of money. We got the date for the angioplasty much earlier than we expected. We borrowed some money to give at the hospital. We thank Amma for Her kind heartedness and providing Rs.14,884 as treatment help. I hope and pray that many people get this kind of help from this institution. All the doctors and other staff in this hospital were very helpful. Dear Vallikkavu Amma,
For days now, myself and my wife have been feeling mentally weak. Yesterday my son’s surgery was successfully performed. Now we are relived. He is our only son. We were in deep sorrow when he lost his eyesight, but Amma’s blessings never left us. No matter how much we thank Her, it will never be enough.
My son is studying in a school in Mangalore. One day while in class, the child sitting next to him poked his eye with his pencil. Though the teacher saw it, she did not inform us then. We took him to a doctor in Shimoga and was referred to a hospital in Manipal. Since we didn’t have enough money to take him there, we did not go there. When we fought with the school authorities we were given Rs. 7500 as compensation, but that money was not enough for his treatment. The school management trustees had agreed to provide all the help needed for his treatment, but when the time came nobody was willing to help us. Amma did not leave us alone at that time. All the staff in the hospital were very loving in nature and extremely efficient in carrying out their duties. I offer my heartfelt gratitude to Amma, the doctors who treated my son and other staff in this hospital for all the help. I am highly indebted to Amma for providing Rs. 18,566 as treatment help for my son’s eye surgery. All I have is tears to offer at Amma’s holy feet. I give consent to publish my son’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication.

Minnu Padmanabhan
MRD No : 64593
Age/ Sex : 8 Years/Female
Department : CVTS
Date of Admission / Discharge : 24/08/2008---03/10/2008
Dear Amma,
My name is Mini Padmanabhan and I hail from Kunnathunaadu taluk in Ernakulam district. My family consists of myself, my father, mother, husband and our two daughters. Both my parents are ill. My husband works as a helper in a workshop. We have not been able to build a house of our own till now. I stay in my house. The financial condition in my husband’s house is very bad. He has one brother who is mentally challenged. So he has to take care of his brother too.
My second daughter Minnu was a heart patient by birth. She underwent two surgeries at Am rita Hospital. Initially we took her to a nearby hospital. The doctor there referred us to this hospital. Mini had her first surgery when she was just 1 ½ months old. We borrowed money from our relatives to meet the surgery expenses. The next surgery was performed when she turned 3 years old. Before that surgery we contacted patient services. A swamiji came to our house for enquiry and was convinced of our poor living condition. As a result we got treatment help from Amma. Her third surgery was done when she was 8 years old. We were told that it would cost a huge amount of money. So we contacted patient services again seeking help. They understood our financial problems and we were given treatment help of Rs. 68058 from Amma’s charity. We will forever be thankful and indebted to Amma for all the help. We will never forget Amma in our lives. I always see Amma’s reflection when I look at my daughter’s face. All the doctors and nurses who treated my daughter were very hospitable toward us, which bought a lot of joy in our hearts. I give full consent to publish my daughter’s photograph along with this letter in Amma’s publication. Once again a million pranams to Amma.
